New Deluxe Expansion For Android Netrunner Adds New Identities

I got very excited this morning when I saw that there was a new update on the Fantasy Flight Games website telling me that the next Deluxe Expansion for Android: Netrunner was revealed. So, indulge in Data & Destiny with a slant towards NBN and three new Runner Identities...
We Know Everything...
Much like in (spoiler alert) Deus Ex: Human Revolution NBN are the corporation in charge of the media in the Android universe. Everything goes through them and they can shape the news like Picus do in that particular game. With that in mind they're making sure Runners get a raw deal...
The aim is to not only make it harder for Runners to actually run but also punish them when they do with stronger tagging abilities letting them know where they are before sending in the goons (I mean hired professionals) to finish the job.
It's going to be really interesting to see how NBN grows in this upcoming expansion as they are already a very strong Corporation to run in the tournament scene.
New Ways Of Running
As well as the new ways in which the Corporation can keep tabs on you there are three new Runner mini-factions in the game for players to pick from.
Adam is a Bioroid set free from the confines of his programming and as well as looking utterly awesome has a very specific way of playing with his own Directive cards. Apex isn't even a 'being' as such and more of a predatory program in the system. I love the theme of it where everything it uses has to be from the virtual world.
Last but not least is Sunny Lebeau who is a Runner contracted out by the Corporations themselves. Think of her as one of those Hackers hired by the government to make sure their systems are secure.
Since the three Runners are from their own faction they have a vastly higher influence on their cards (25) meaning that they can really pick and choose from the main factions in terms of what cards they take.
The deck building possibilities are going to be insane.

so I haven’t had much time to check out the netrunner sites recently 😛
but this is super exiting news with all these unique runners 😀
I just read somewhere that nearly all their support cards will just be in this expansion,
which is why the influence is so high 🙂
I’m so curious about how Apex and Adam work 🙂

I can’t wait to check out this set – it sounds like Gabriel Santiago might get sidelined by Adam simply because he looks mega-cool.

it seems like you can install cards face down and pay no cost, to trash for different abilities 🙂
it’s gonna massively change the way you plan discard phases for this runner 🙂
the extra face down install at the beginning of turn is like an extra discard and click 🙂
… I normally play Edward Kim right now, so it might be fun to trash my own cards for a change 😛 ha ha
Finally took the plunge on Netrunner at last weekends expo, bought the core and first two Genesis data packs. It’s all a bit daunting at the start but should be ultimately rewarding.
It is one of the most rewarding games when you start seeing all the synergies and how it all weaves itself together nicely. Make sure to try and see if you can learn alongside someone who knows the game as they’ll help you with some of the trickier aspects of things.

I like the look of the new runners. FFG have said that these are not 3 new runner factions, and this box is likely to be all the support they ever get. The high Influence stats make up for that. I think they will be very interesting characters to play, the high influence will make them more customisable than other runners. From the sound of it, these guys will have a base set of cards unique to them, you make up the rest with the cards from the main 3 runner factions. I wonder if Apex and the Anarchs would… Read more »
I wonder if FFG will start doing “mini factions” for the Corps as well?
Would be interesting – upstart companies that are being watched by the bigger Corporations as they go about their business.
I heard rumors about N.A.P.D runners from someone several months ago 😉
same person said there would be corp runners, and that’s just happened now 😛
and the first Android games were about N.A.P.D investigating corp cover ups, so it would make sense 🙂
