Studio Giraldez Paints Up Fantastic Critical Role Heroes
July 6, 2019 by brennon
Studio Giraldez has done another bloomin' awesome job on some miniatures this week. This time around it's the paint jobs for these Critical Role characters which were designed by Steamforged Games and were delivered to Kickstarter backers recently.
As you can see, Angel has put lots of effort into bringing not just Vox Machina (above) to life but also the crew from Campaign Two and The Mighty Nein (below). He has chosen pretty much spot on colours for a lot of the characters and his take on Grog is awesome.
It's very cool to see the characters from one of my favourite D&D livestreams come to life like this. It also spurs me on to actually try and finish my own group of Critical Role miniatures that I got through the Kickstarter. So far I've painted Grog, Vex, Trinket and nearly finished Keyleth. I have quite the way to go!
I do like the miniatures I got from the Kickstarter but I wish they'd been a little bigger. Some of the details have got a little lost here and there and they aren't as easy to paint as I would have hoped. Still, they look pretty special all the same.
If you're a fan of Critical Role, tell me who your favourite character is in the comments below.
I think mine has to be Grog, or maybe Scanlan...

Great looking paint job, would love to see pics of them straight out of the packet though.
Thpse look stunning and Studio Giraldez has hit ball to the park with those paint jobs.
First off, long time fan of the Critical Role team. Matt uses the same style of DM’ing that I have used since the late 70’s.
I think I backed the Kickstarter for these figures on the first day. They took longer to deliver as the Steamforge team did not like the first results of the factory that produced these. Good on them for trying to keep the quality high.
Well done to ‘Studio Giraldez’ for a fantastic paint job as always! I’ll be printing on high gloss paper these images of Angel’s finished work. I really like the colors chosen for the characters. Sometimes it can be tough to decide which colors to go with with so many ‘Critter Fans’ using a varied selection of colors in their personal artwork in honor of the weekly game that floats about the internet.
As to a favorite character………it was Grog in the first campaign and I think in the second campaign it would be……….(dang this is tough)………so many good characters……..probably Fjord. He’s a magical, sword swinging, water roaming(pirate???)kind of and a leader. But I like ‘Nott the Brave’ as well and ‘Caleb Widogast’ and………err. I’ll just stop for now… 👍😓
great looking figures.
