Justin and Gerry take a look-see at some Tribal miniatures for Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago from North Star Figures.
Boasting an impressive twenty figures in the box, the guys set about discussing the vast array of options at the disposal of those jumping into miniatures from North Star Figures. Gerry talks about the potential to mix and match these figures giving them different weapons and Justin makes the faux pas of suggesting their usage in D&D.

I do rather like these. Would be a nice box to paint up.
I have the Frostgrave Undead box and they were easy to build.
I do need more stuff for Rangers of Shadow Deep, but Frostgrave Gnolls are my choice there.
Another nice looking kit . It would be great to have a few more arm options without anything in the hand for adding weapons from other kits , plus a Gerry says , the bow men should have a dedicated arm pair . It would also be nice to have a running or kneeling body type , all the Frost Grave / Ghost figure sets I’ve seen unboxed don’t have any figure in a dynamic action pose , these guys don’t really lend themselves to much beyond an arm or head swap unlike say the Bolt action plastics who can… Read more »
All the Frostgrave kits are really nice. I just wish they wouldn’t come with bases molded onto the feet.
Loving these Frostgrave and F:GA minis. The quality and variety is impressive and they’re well worth a purchase.
There appears to be very poor jointing between arm and torso, I counted one good joint from 10. Hence my score.
you shouldn’t base anything on the build for the videos. as they are literally glued together between shots as quickly as possible, filming time is limited, and Renedra are probably the best in the business so decent fits are rarely a problem.

Thanks for this unboxing. This kit was intriguing me and that has really helped me decide. I too like the idea of these with the barbarians and maybe some cultist bits. Fantasy miniatures lego funtime.

it’s an old school way of moulding that can be a bit marmite, people love or hate it 🙂
Models look ok, but some of the poses don’t look a bit false.

Don’t be fooled by speed building, I don’t have the luxuary of time in the build, it really is make sure that the things don’t fall off and move to the next build.
There are a few static poses, but just taking the time to build them makes them look 100 times better.
No criticism of your skills sir, but take on board what you are saying. As you say above Renedra are great model producers.
none taken, someone else commented on gaps at the arms, so I’m just pointing out that these are literally banged out, it’s worth looking at nicely assembled ones to get a real idea of how they are. It’s like viewing a charcoal sketch of a great piece of art and then the finished piece, rough outlines 😀
It may be that you still aren’t a fan of the posing even then, but I wouldn’t want initial impressions to put you off

The point that can be mixed wit hother Frostgrave kits easily was a good tip.
I know they’ve even combined some of the wizard parts with the dwarf kit they do and they look perfectly fine. That surprised me.
This looks like a good box to keep an eye on. For I need to find a project that I can justify buying them. And there is nothing wrong with using minis in D&D, it is tradition from the beginning.
Got myself a box of them along with an Heritor and Warden and i love them. Plan on building 10 without tiki masks and 10 with tiki masks, so i’ll be able to play as a warband an encounter another tribe in the random encounters or part of the scenarios…
As for myself, the only plastic box for Frostgrave that i didn’t like were the Lizardmen (did not like how they looked assembled…), i rarely say this, but i prefered their metal versions…

Late to the party in commenting but I have this set. They’re ruddy marvelous!
I agree with gerry about the offhand, but I think he could have snipped the weapon off the arm he used and it would have left an acceptable clenched fist. he shouldn’t really have to do that though.
