Teetotum Game Studios are on Kickstarter right now looking for funding to bring Age Of Rome, a new board game, to life. Take on the role of a mighty Emperor or Empress vying for control of Rome.

Age Of Rome begins with each player being assigned a character with their own special player board. You'll then choose a number of secret quests to undertake that can secure you additional Glory Points at the end of the game. Play then proceeds over nine rounds across a rotating board, working to claim Glory Points!

Gameplay rounds are broken down into four phases. In the Scheme Phase, you'll reveal an event card that changes the state of the game and dictates where the boards will move. A Building Phase will allow you to build structures whilst the Action Phase opens up the chance to visit buildings in a province and activate their abilities. You might even send your Legions to battle in one of the distant lands that surround Rome.

During the final phase, the Income Phase, you'll gain money for your work and the province boards will shift. This means that at every turn you're going to be working to try and make the best of the different provinces to help fulfil your agenda and any that you undertake in the course of play.

Glory Points can be achieved in a pretty "points salad" affair. You can gain them from building high-level structures, winning votes in the senate and of course in the pursuit of military endeavours. I love this way of gaining victory points as it means that you can always look at different ways to win a game, regardless of how many times you play.

How To Play Age Of Rome // Teetotum Game Studios

The game has unlocked a solo mode over on Kickstarter and if you're looking for more information, there is also a Rulebook to read and a Tabletop Simulator version to play as well. The game looks like it could be a lot of fun, especially with all of the ways gameplay could vary from game to game.

Are you tempted to give this a go?
